It’s been 25 years since four lads from Kilkenny first hit the road together and what a journey it’s been. From their earliest gigs around Ireland to stages across Europe and the U.S., The Kilkennys have brought Irish folk music to audiences far and wide. To mark this incredible milestone, the band has released a brand-new double album, 25 Year Celebration.
The album features 11 brand-new recordings and 13 fan favourites, capturing the heart and energy that have defined the band’s sound for a quarter of a century. From the lively rhythm of Fiddler John to the storytelling magic of Mystic Lipstick, each track reflects the music, people, and places that have shaped The Kilkennys since their first tours together.
Fans will also find new takes on songs that have become part of the band’s live DNA, including Black Velvet Band and Dancing at the Crossroads, an original trad set written by Mick Martin. Together, these tracks celebrate not only 25 years of music but the friendships, memories, and audiences that have made it all possible.
“When fans open the physical album, they’ll get a look inside our old fly case, the one that’s travelled with us for years,” says Davey Cashin.“We’ve filled it with pieces of our journey, ticket stubs, setlists, passes, photos, little mementos that tell the story of the last 25 years. It’s like lifting the lid on our memories.”
“This album is more than a milestone for us,” Davey continues.“It’s a thank-you, to everyone who’s sung along, booked us, followed us around the world, and helped keep Irish music alive.”
25 Year Celebration is available now on CD, vinyl, and all major streaming platforms. Whether you’ve followed The Kilkennys from the start or you’re just discovering their music, this album captures everything that makes the band and Irish folk itself so timeless.
