The Kilkennys play National Concert Hall – April 20th

Following the huge success of their recent UK Tour and festivals throughout Europe, The Kilkennys are taking their ‘Fine Girl Ye Are’ show to the prestigious surroundings of Dublin’s National Concert Hall on April 20th.

Over 20 sold out theatre shows throughout the UK, 4,000 Czechs chanting for more in Ostrava, almost 2,000 German fans singing along in Balve, a welcome return to Switzerland and constant touring throughout Ireland, is just two months in the life of The Kilkennys. It’s no wonder the balladeers are fast becoming a household name.

“The past few months have been a rollercoaster ride for us. We have been in and out of tour busses and travelling everywhere in a short period of time. It’s been great and we are delighted our music is going down so well abroad,” said Davey Cashin of the Kilkennys.

Their current show, which filled theatres across the UK, Scotland and Ireland, has proven to be a major success for the band. Titled ‘Fine Girl Ye Are’ and narrated by RTE’s Cathail McCabe, the show documents the life and music of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.

It is now more than a quarter of a century since the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem were last heard singing together and still their memory lives on as Ireland’s greatest ever musical export, with many of their incredible 55 albums still selling thousands of units every year.

Telling the story of the Clancy’s from their early days in the paint shop of a car factory in Cleveland to international fame and stardom, including a special performance for President John F Kennedy in the White House, The Kilkennys inject their renowned youthful energy to help bring the music to another generation.

Growing up just 25 miles from the Clancy’s hometown of Carrick-on-Suir, The Kilkennys have been raised in the same musical tradition and perform the great Clancy songs with an excitement and authenticity that brings audiences to their feet time and time again.

‘Fine Girl Ye Are’ is a fully costumed and staged show designed for theatrical presentation and is guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.

Performing their own show in the National Concert Hall is another progressive step for The Kilkennys who have a lot in the pipe line for the coming year including new singles, a brand new album and dates in Las Vegas, Boston, Holland, Germany and of course every corner of Ireland.
