New website launched with sold out show

Local balladeers The Kilkennys, who raised the roof off the Watergate Theatre with their tribute to the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem last night, have today launched their brand new website http://www.thekilkennys.com

The site boasts a wide range of sections including links to their Facebook and MySpace pages, an extensive Gallery including photo’s and videos, Biogs, News, Tour Guide, a Book the Band section, a Chat to the Band section, an introduction to each band member and even a page dedicated to their beloved Kilkenny – the city they named themselves after.

The bands Facebook page, which was only set up a short time ago, already has over 2,000 fans and their MySpace page boasts a music player that streams a selection of the bands recordings including ‘Spanish Lady’ and ‘Go Lassie Go’.

The website was launched straight after the bands performance in the Watergate Theatre last night. Over 300 people turned out to see the story of the legendary Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem performed by The Kilkennys.

The fascinating story of the Clancys was narrated by Cathail McCabe who is a musical director and worked with RTE for over 25 years. His story telling skills went hand in hand with The Kilkennys performance. Agents from America and representatives from Dolphin Records were also at the show and were highly impressed by the band that Cathail McCabe described as the ‘natural aires to the Clancy Brothers.’

The band are now on the road to St Johns Theatre, Listowel for tonights show and tomorrow night they hit Ashbourne House Hotel, Ashbourne.
