Hailing from Durrow, County Laois, Robbie Campion plays an array of instruments including guitar, mandolin and banjo and he sings with The Kilkennys.

Robbie is a champion banjo player and is well known for his performances with Camross Comhaltas – a branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann which is the largest group involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music.

One of the most recognised features of The Kilkennys is their vocal abilities and strong harmonies. Robbie has a big part to play in this and gets great credit for his vocals on songs such as Red is the Rose and Working Man.

Like the rest of the band Robbie is a big GAA enthusiast and follows soccer just as much. Growing up he played on many teams and proved to be a great performer on the pitch. However, his attention soon shifted to music and his performances on stage have since surpassed those on the pitch.
